Yakitori Chicken with Scallions and Sesame Seeds

Yakitori is a portion of traditional street food in Japan. Grilled on skewers and brushed with tare sauce. Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Fish, Vegetables.
You can Yakitori anything that you can put on a skewer.

Yakitori Chicken with Scallions and Sesame Seeds

CHICKEN YAKITORI

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken( tenders, thigh meat or chicken breast)
  • 2 bunches of Scallion( with larger stalks)
  • 2 tbsp Peanut oil(or Vegetable oil)
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds
  • tare sauce( or teriyaki sauce)
  • wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Cut about 1-inch pieces of the white part of the Scallion.
  2. Skewer 1 scallion, then chicken, then repeat the process, leaving 2 inches on each side of the skewer.
  3. Season with salt and white pepper.
  4. To skillet, add Peanut oil and heat up.
  5. Place Yakitori on a skillet and wait for the chicken to brown up.
  6. Add a little bit of water and close the lid. ( this will allow the chicken to steam and cook all the way through).
  7. Brush with tare sauce and turn on the other side.
  8. Let caramelize and brush with more tare sauce.
  9. Done!
  10. Garnish with chopped scallion and sesame seeds.
  11. Enjoy as-is or with a side of white rice!
