Pie Crust Wrapped Baked Apples

For Thanksgiving dessert I usually make pies! How about Pie Crust wrapped apples? Something different and certainly will impress your guests.

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups flour
  • 2 sticks(230g) cold butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/3 sup icy water

Instructions

  1. To make pie crust you will need food processor.
  2. To a bowl of a food processor add: flour, sugar and salt.
  3. Give it a quick mix.
  4. Add cubed cold butter and pulse until corn meal consistency.
  5. Slowly add icy water and mix until you see your dough forms into a ball.
  6. Take dough out, divide in half.
  7. form disks and wrap each disk in plastic wrap.
  8. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Prepare apples:

  1. You will need 4 baking apples.
  2. Peel them and core them.
  3. Roll in Cinnamon sugar. (½ cup sugar+ 1 tsp Cinnamon)
  4. In each crater of the apple add filling(chopped pecans and dried cranberries)
  5. Dust table surface with flour.
  6. Take each disk out and roll out into 1/8 of an inch thick.
  7. Cut out 2 circles that are about 7 inches in diameter.
  8. Place each apple in the center of a dough circle and wrap your fruit.
  9. Make decorative leaves and strips.
  10. Decorate your apples.
  11. Brush with egg.
  12. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  13. Place in a baking form, lined with parchment paper.
  14. Bake at 400°F(200°C) for 55-60 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Take out of the oven and let cool a little bit.
  16. You can dust apples with icing sugar or leave them as is!
  17. Enjoy with Vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
