With the countdown to Christmas… time for some Christmasy nibbles a perfect finger food which is easy to make, tasty to eat exploding and enhancing in Indo western flavors Potato Poppers!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 5 medium-sized
  • Onion - 1 medium-sized
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Green Chillie paste - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Lime / Lemon to taste ( I used 3/4 of a lime)
  • Oil for deep-frying

Binding: Plain Flour/ Maida:

  • Egg

  • Bread crumbs
  • Parsley / Oregano

Instructions

  1. Set the Potatoes to boil, mash the boiled potatoes ensuring they are no lumps!
  2. To the mashed potatoes add the above ingredients
  3. Combine the above mixture thoroughly
  4. Make small balls forming a hole at the center stuffing in your favorite cheese cube ( I have used Cheddar Cheese ) and Jalapenos and ensuring to cover it up from all sides
  5. Dust the balls in plain flour and dip them in beaten egg
  6. Roll the balls in the bread crumbs
  7. Bread crumbs can be flavored either with Parsley or Oregano
  8. Deep fry the potato balls in oil until they are golden brown
  9. Serve hot with ketchup or your favorite chutney
